Sure, it's very possible to replace the syncro's. A lot of folks do that.. The biggest problem w/ that is, you've already got most of the tranny apart anyway, why not rebuild it bigger/better??

Try changing the fluid first.. It's cheaper, and it may very well fix your issues, or at least bandaid them for a while.. If that doesn't help, then you may want to start searching other routes....

yea, the cost for just replacing the syncros was a little over 900...very labor intensive..when you weigh that against the cost of a new tranny, a new tranny is def the best route.

i see...but if i were to replace the tranny i would not just go to the junkyard and get a T45...I would get something more beefy. First I want to see what happens after a fluid change and clutch assembly replacement.

hmmm TKO? T56?

I replaced the synchros in my T45 for a little under $300 doign about 80% of the work myself. I had to have a few things pressed on and off of shafts inside the trans, but otherwise it was all me.

Shifts like BUTTER now.

Have you looked at the clutch cable? Is that adjusted properly? Don't go for the most complex thing first

no no, just adjust it! Adjust it to pick up the slack in the cable and see if your problems go away

I tried, it seemed to help a little bit at first but it went back to being rough. Well there isn't much clutch left to adjust any more lol. Thats why i figured this problem might just go away once i replace the clutch...hopefully

what you will want to check is under the car on the trans. Jack it up and remove the little inspection cover on the trans where the cable connects. See if there is a threaded end of the cable down there, and maybe that needs to be tightened as well. Also while that cover is off, look in and see how the clutch looks. You can't get a great view of it, but you can see how much clutch dust is in there.
