tranny mount guestion

when I drove the car up on blocks, I could turn the drive shaft with my hand about a 16th of an inch. Also looking at where the drive shaft enters the tranny, there is a mark that shows that the shaft is moving in and out about a 16th of an inch.

ehhh that's normal for the play between gears


check each U joint and see if they have play

I checked them and couldnt find any play.
so now it is most likely to be motor monts? are they hard to install?

i dunno, i just un bolted part of them to lift the motor, but upon looking at them they woulnd't be that tough to completley remove. I had them about 1/2 out.

Are you checking rear end play with the car in neutral?

When you do that tomorrow, before you get under the car make sure the e-brake is set and you have at least one tire chocked.

I checked the rear end and the wheels have about a half inch to an inch of play. Is this normal also what should I look for for bad motor mounts?
