Default Cobra Crankshaft question

Can I use a 2001 cobra crankshaft in my 2004 gt block. I'm wondering if the journals are the same size. Also would I need to machine the block to clear the counterweights?

If its a forged crank with center counter weights yes you will need to remove some of the casting in the block from the center bulkhead, both sides, so the weights will clear. If you have the correct tools you can do it yourself. A die grinder with a 1" grinding wheel and some good measuring tools so you don't take off too much. Its a matter of only taking off a little at a time until it clears so you will have to use the rear thrust bearing as a gauge and you'll probably have to lay the crank in and take it out a few times to get it right. You also will want to tape over ALL of the oil and bolt holes while your doing it to make clean up a bit easier. Its really just a common sense thing that takes about 1-2Hrs. and your all set, good luck.

PM me if you have any other ?'s
