Default Gear install pricing...

I called the local mustang performance shop today to see how much it would be to get gears installed. They said $200 for labor. I figured that was okay, but he then said he would also have to "reflash the computer" which would cost $150. I thought unplugging the battery would reset the computer...? Maybe he was talking about adjusting the speedometer and stuff. Has anyone heard this crap, b/c it's new to me?

That's BS... What year is your car? 99+ and you can use a handheld to fix the speedo, 98 under I believe you would need a speedcal or speedo gear...

I definitely think he tried to rip me off. I called him back and said I would bring my tuner (which means i have to get one now) and handle the recalibration myself. I figure the $200 labor is worth it. Instead of using $150 to "reflash" my computer, I could almost buy a used tuner from someone.
