4:10s and ETs

RE: 4:10s and ETs
I gained a tenth or two with my 4.10's and that invluded a tuner that was part of the package. However the gears assist with each additional mod that you do. Also driveability is much more right there and I have an automatic. Unfortunatly you will not gain a half second, would be nice, you will truly enjoy them though. More so like I said with additional mods. mark

Go to Brenspeed.com and click on technical. The guys there are doing a project on a 1999 GT automatic. I used the results of this article to make the decision to go with the 4.10 gear. Very informative. I have not ran it at the track, but man it made the "little yellow buggy" come to life. IF MPG is any concern wit hgas over 3.00 per gallon, I have seen about 25 mile per tank loss. BIG DEAL. I am running 5 speed manual Tremec 3650. Automatic may be different.

Thanks Guys!!
Do you spins your tires alot with 4.10s? i only have 245s...
On my old 97 I went from 14.2 down to 13.8 with nothing more than 410's and DR's. If you are getting gears please get tires too

RE: 4:10s and ETs
You dont HAVE to get get DR's with 4.10's.. However, if you want to benefit fully from the improved acceleration off the line, and pull throughout the RPM range, then it woudl be wise to consider a set of at least some stock size nitto DR's.
With my crappy winter tires that were on the car and 4.10's, I was only able a pull a 2.226 60' at the track, perhaps I could have done better, but with DR's, you can launch hard, stick, and pull sub 2.0 60's if driven correctly. Something that is not by any means simple with 4.10's and stock tires.
However, if your car is just a fun daily driver/weekend car, then there is no real need to invest in DR's.
