Default Gear related...but more in depth

I know there are hundreds of millions of thousands of millions of posts about gears. But if i searched for days i dont think i would find the specific one that i am concerned about. I am still curious about 3.73's... i DONT WANT 4.10's.... so no one bother say they're better, its just not what im looking for! If some one who has 3.73's can please write a little snippit about them...Ya see i dont want too steep of gears because i remember my grandpa having an old rickety truck and by the time u were in 4th gear u were only at 10mph.. i dont want that. I would like to know if 3.73's are a little more catered to my needs, soo if someone could say like at what gear they are at and what speedd and rm they would be... just typical driving things about them.

Thanks

So your needs are to be slower than people with 4.10's?

The different between stock gears and 4.10's isn't THAT huge. Instead of being in 5th going 70 and turning 2k rpm's, with the 4.10's you be turning about 2500 rpms. A 500 rpm difference. That's it.

I don't see how you could be disappointed going with a better gear ratio. The jump to 3.73 is hardly noticeable. The jump to 4.10's IS noticeable. I know LOTS of guys that wish like crazy they had gone with 4.10's instead.

I don't agree with that at all, there is a VERY noticable difference between 3.73s and the stock 3.27s.

I was never unhappy with my 3.73s. If I would have been planning on staying with a N/A car I would have gone with 4.10s, but I did not regret having the 3.73s while the car was N/A.

If you do ALOT of highway driving, espcially if you have the T-45 trans, 3.73s may be the gear for you. Another thing to think about is launch. If you have any mods at all and go with 4.10s, but you cannot run a drag radial style tire, I think your gonna have some traction problems off the line.

BTW, as much as everyone wants it to not be so, if you take two identical cars, one with 4.10s and one with 3.73s, its still gonna come down to the driver. Everyone acts like the difference between the two is massive, but I would bet next weeks paycheck I can stick ya in a car and you can't tell me which gearset it has.
