Default let's talk about the clutch!

my clutch is starting to go in my 98 and i was wondering what you all think is the best clutch out there, and how much it is? and how much is labor???-i have a pretty reasonable mustang shop that i go to, they charged me 200 flat to do my gear swap-so judging from that... and i also heard that you have to baby your car for 500 miles... is that true?

Theirs no real break in required for gears, although some people will give you a different opinion. Just be easy on it for the first few days and after that rape them gears. Labor will vary greatly, but most likely will be around $350.00. I like centerforce clutches myself.

Theirs usually a required break in period for aftermarket clutches, for best grip its best to give the clutches alot of easy engage / disengage operations for a few hundred miles to help buid a solid wear pattern between the clutch, plate, and flywheel. Yes theirs different type clutches available, really the better you go - like with a II or dual friction - the better, but more expensive.

I am extremely happy with my Mcleod. Much different (and better) clutch feel, doesnt take to much to operate, and when you you let out the clutch it is engaged, plain and simple.

I was going with a FRPP clutch, but they were out of em and sent me the mcleod. I got mine for 199.99

I have a 98 also. I just put in a King Cobra clutch, STEEDA adjustable clutch cable, and STEEDA double hook quadrant. It feels great and you can adjust to youre pleasure. I got it from mustangtuning.com. it comes in like 2 days and free shipping. Wasnt bad to put in at all. I posted a post on the whole thing. I put mine in on Saturday. And im still easing into it. I havent really blown through the gears yet.
