Trouble in the Trunk!!!
Hi everyone,
I bought my '99 Stang GT with confidence, but recently found a few problems. The guy put on an '03 Cobra spoiler. It seems like the car was painted yellow over yellow once before because the bumper is a different shade and the weatherstripping on the trunk has yellow spray paint residue on it.
The problem is, this guy worked very unorganized. He CRUDELY drilled uneven holes into the fiberglass trunklid in order to put on the Cobra spoiler. I took the Cobra spoiler off to decide if I wanted to replace it with the stock one, (much much better quality and paint), and saw these holes.
Also, there are holes from the stock spoiler fittings still existant on the sides of the trunklid. My question is that should I:
1) Take off the Cobra spoiler, repaint it along with the bumper, and put it right back on, and fill the holes from the stock spoiler.
2) Take off the Cobra spoiler, fill the Cobra spoiler holes, and put back on the stock spoiler.
Either way, I have to re-wire the third brake light. The Cobra one is much lower quality and broken around the screw fittings.
So here are some pictures of the problem.

RE: Trouble in the Trunk!!!
I did notice the plugs from the stock spoiler, but the others were hidden under the spoiler itself. I would rather patch them up rather that go find a junky one and pay a load of money to have it repainted.
The car checked out on CARFAX. No accidents on record.

I say fix the holes and keep the cobra wing but if you got the money why not buy a new trunk setup? Rather than keep this POS or even take it back to where you got it from (if you still can)

No. I can see it too. And I'm on a laptop. I don't have a lot of money to spend on this car.
But I'd like to also know what I need to fill the holes up with. Epoxxy? And then repaint it at the shop? Or give it to te shop to do the entire procedure. I am looking for whats more inexpensive.

if i were you i would get it fixed right no matter how expensive it is, even if that means getting a new trunk lid and getting everything repainted to match the rest of the body.
