I bought my '99 Convertible GT back in April or May for $8700. cash. I'm 53 and not enjoying it! My age that is, I love the car! I did a little research and I think I got a good deal for a Convertible GT with 53K miles and it's a Florida car and I am in salt country, near Syracuse, N.Y. I will be storing the car winters and driving my Ford Festiva, made in Korea with a Mazda drivetrain. Poor car doesn't know it's heritage-none!
Where is the best place to find the value of used cars, Kelly blue book?
For the thread starter if you are trading your V6 you should do OK even if you sell it outright as you never get what they are worth when you trade. Good Luck and hold out for what you really like and take your time. I needed an automatic due to poor health and the drop top is what made the sale for me, car has a reddish color with metalflake and a white top and white leather seating, nice! Mark

Heres some advice search used car lots that don't dealer with ford like jeep and chrysler or something. this spring i picked up my 04 gt for less than 16K and it had 20500 miles and it booked for over 20000. my wife got her mitsubishi eclipse 3500 under blue book also the cars aren't as valuble to them and they try to get rid of them asap but the lot i got mine from was an internet price so you might have to go to auto trader or go to there web sight. 380 p/m lost 3000 on my trade.

can was $21,750 with tax new from the dealer. i took out a loan from the bank, i put down about $7000 tho. so my total loan was about $13000. had to pay at least $300 a month, but i payed it off in 2 years, i was putting some serious money in to it every month.

*has learned to shut up about buying cars on credit since it's normal practice in the states and not where I am from originally*

Anyway, try and look to the whole picture. If you end up paying several thou above the initial price you are doing something wrong. That or you are better of keeping your V6 for a little longer until you can fork over the entire amount. Crappy interest rates often means crappy credit. I suggest doing something else to fix your credit.

My credit history is non-existent, so I wouldn’t dream on buying a car on credit. Although it would give me a nice credit rating really fast, I am not going to let myself be screwed over by insane rates. Guess my credit rating will go up a lot slower by making my payments on my credit card on time and in full every time.

$0 down, bought through private party, $12124 after all taxes and crap for my '00 GT, I can't remember the interest, I pay $266 a month through State Farm for I think 48 months. My insurance is $82 a month, full coverage, $200 deductible, $0 deductible for rental car and glass coverage.
