Sticky Shifter

Sticky Shifter
I have a 5spd and have never been happy with the smotheness of operation of my shifter. There is a little resistance going into first gear and some resistance going into second gear; nothing major, but it is noticeable to anyone who has ever driven a car with a quatlity manual transmission. I have a buddy with a 99gt 5 spd and his shifter feels similar to mine. I know mustangs cost less than 30k, so I cant complain too much.
Would a short throw shifter make things operate a little smoother? Or is the resistance that Im feeling a product of cheap linkage?
If none of you ever have, I suggest you go test drive an Audi TT with a 6spd. That is what a shifter is supposed to feel like.

RE: Sticky Shifter
An aftermarket shifter is only going to make the notchy feeling worse. My friend's 06 v6 with a stock shifter is pretty smooth, but feels rubbery. I've got a steeda tri-ax, it's notchy, and lets me feel the transmission. You drive a sports car, not a luxury car

how hard is it to install the mgw shifter? I'm desperate for some good shifting.

RE: Sticky Shifter
The stock shifters are junk so just about any good aftermarket shifter will help a bit, also, going by your ID, if you have an '04 there is a TSB on the trans for this problem. So if your car is still under warranty you may want to check into that and have the trans rebuilt for free with better parts, good luck.
