Droping the Mustang
I want to drop my mustang over winter. Can i just put drop springs in it? Or do i need to do other things to the suspention. I don't know much about suspention. I know that i will need an allinement afterwareds. How much lowering is good? I want to keep my 17" Rims, Maybe one day 18"s. I want to put 275s in the rear to some day. I found a website that sells drop springs in a 2" or a 1.4" drop. canuckmotor sports(click) Would those be good? The cars not going to be used for road raceing, maybe drag raced 2 times a year. Any other information you need in order to help me just ask.

RE: Droping the Mustang
you have awesome door ding protectors.
the ford racing springs are the cheapest if you care about budget. I've never heard of canuck motorsports (the ford stuff is made in canada anyway). I'd recommend changing shocks and struts at the same time, cause (1) you have to remove and replace a lot of the same parts to change springs and shocks/struts, and (2) stock stuff will wear out faster than normal with the lowering springs. also, if you're going to drag race it, you might want some control arms.

The canuck motorsports are out of canada, so no tax and shipping, that is why i was thinking that company. Do i just need after market struts and shocks, or do i need lowring kit specific ones?

He means those girls man. You can put in up to 2.5" drop springs (i have like 2") but you MUST get caster/camber plates or it will shred your front tires. Put the new plates in (its easy) and then take it to get an alignment and then youll be good to go. Shocks and struts are optional but not a must and theyre so easy to do you can really do them anytime. Its not like it was when i changed them on my 3/4 ton truck [:@][:'(]

I think every mustang has them... Don't they?
Edit: Well i dunno, car came with it, I am 3rd owner. The first guy that owned it worked for ford and added a few little things like a black plastic trunk peice, and a crome peice around the shifter. Maybe he added them.

haha i thought you ment the girls! No i thought they just put them on v-6's to make them seem less lame. . . . which i dunno if it worked but by the way new, tighter suspension will actually hurt you on the track. It allows less absorption and it will make it so you have a harder time hooking up. If i built a dragster id put looser springs on the back but i drive up a windey mountain pass everyday so i went with the stiff 2" drop springs, upper and lower granatelli control arms, weld in subframes and 275/45/r17s. I beat up on my buddies Roush stage 2 all the time through the corners! Its great how much you pay for a set of springs and some wheels on those peices! . . but then again im like 1000lbs lighter than him!
