Default Mustang Miles

I found a good price on a 1999 Mustang GT with 125k miles. The car is in excellent shape, but I was wondering if 125k is way too many miles? How long do the 4.6's last?

if the car has a lotta miles, just make sure u had a mechanic check over it. the thing is, if it was driven by an old lady you should be fine but if it was driven by some kid i wouldnt bet my money on that unless ur planning to rebuild your engine.

Depends on how good of a price? I wouldnt pay more than 4500 tops for a car with that many miles.

IF im not mistaken the 4.6 2v 283 that is in the mustang is the same motor that is in the Crown Vic and Town Car correct? if it is i have read many articles of the 4.6 lasting up to 400k. Also you might say well that was probally a grandma driving it, well i guess you have never ridden in a NYC Cab.

obously other major parts have been replaced, such as the trans after about 250k and so on. but yeah thats still a lot of miles i would keep looking.

Im just saying most people say i need to rebuild at 100k and all the cabs you see running around have 3 and 4 times the amount of miles.

Its actually a 281ci engine but yea its the same one in Crown Vics and Grand Marqui's. And yea, especially around here, alot of cabs use old Police Interceptor Crown Vics which are almost exactly like our stang GT engines(with a less agressive tune and so on).
