Default My First Car. . . Help needed

Im 17 and for my first car i decided to get a manual '00 Mustang GT, which i should be getting next week or so. My original choice was out of my price range, and in a way American cars are a new field for me so im in need of some assistance. For now i want to do this . . . get maybe a Mach 1 front Spoiler, Louvers, 18 in rims (not sure what kind yet),K&N Intake . . . I was wondering what else can i do to maximize my mustangs performance and looks?

for performance 18in rims are not good. if you havent driven a muscle car before i would leave it stock for awhile . maybe get a catback exhaust. the car is not the most powerful thing out there but it will roast the tires and send you flying in to a telaphone pole in a hurry if you dont pay attention and use your head. i have hit many mail boxes and went ouuta controll many of times especially in the rain in my formula when i had that when i was your age. im not trying to make you sound bad, saying you are a young kid and you dont know how ro drive but im just for warning you. you will learn if you dont respect and listen to the car it will kill you quick. good luck and be carefull. stick with the 17s and get some chrome wheals. get magnaflow exhasut best there is out there. welcome to the forums

Didnt realise the chin spoiler was a factor. Anyhow, take a look around this forum and youll get the main idea of what to do. Most will say either exhaust first to include ; headers (l/t) off road h/x pipes, magnaflo cat back. Others will say go for gears first... 3.73s but most will say 4.10. Do what I did, see what other people have and look it up and learn.

My opinion from the answers Ive gotten is get some 4.10 rear gears... most bang for the buck if you get a cheap install.

Louvers!!!! is this the 80's!! HAHA!

Get a catback like 04Mustang said first....intake and exhaust are the best perofrmance upgrades to start off with.

Biggest noticable hp adder for low price is an off-road X pipe. Theyre illegal in alot of states and you wont pass emissions but, with all the mods that Ive done to my car I got smoked by a dude with a stock 01 GT that had a catless x and flow master 40 series. He beat me by 3 tenths in the 1/4. I would say gears and pullies. Intake doesnt do ****. K&N air filter on a stock intake is about as good as it gets. I read in 5.0 mag that they tested a wide variety of intakes and the stock one with an aftermarket filter discipated the most heat and provided the most hp. Pullies will release the beast
