Reason he isnt getting ut resurfaced car only has 21k miles on it. You only really need to if im correct up too 50k miles,
even so, I would suggest he do it anyway. It cost me $40 to have mine done resurfaced, all R&R labor my own. I'd do it anyway, as insurance, so the whole clutch setup will be fresh. It's like doing a brake pad slap on old rotors.... it works, but there is no guarantee as to how well they will work or for how long.

The job by a shop takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, so anywhere from $250-$400 would be reasonable. Don't neccessarily go for the cheapest price, but find a mechanic you trust and knows what the heck he's doin. I'd spend a few more dollars to get high quality work, as opposed to skimping out and having them fu** something up, or have to come back several times.

that's where I did mine. It's such a simple trans to R&R, all you need really is to jack the car up as high as possible, and then have at least one or two friends with you for the extra muscle. If you got tools, space, and time... do it yourself.

I would highly recommend that your friend have that flywheel surfaced, hes saving pennies compared to dollars on the life of the new clutch.

I was wondering how much resurfacing a flywheel costs and if it is possible to do it yourself?

I wouldn't do it myself. I called a local shop and they said it costs $45. If you're not replacing the flywheel definitely get it resurfaced.

While you brought this up, the local shop I called told me they would charge about $380 total (if I provide the parts) to install the clutch kit, resurface the flywheel, change the rear main seal, and change the tranny fluid. Is this a good price?
