Question for 4.6 guys
Recently went and looked at a 00' gt the car was in great shape, it was adult owned and had beautiful paint, leather interior, loaded 5 spd. I took it for a test ride alone and of course had to mash it to the floor. It didnt seem to have the power that my fox 5.0s have had because I've owned three. Im probly going to be buying this car I just want to know Is this how the cars are? What can I do to bring out the power if I get this car. Also i heard x pipes are better than H pipes on the 4.6's is this true? thanks

well stock for stock this 00 gt would have alot more power than your fox 5.0, don't know if you had them modded or not so can't say but the new edge stangs are alot faster than the older mustangs

4.10, udp, flows w/o cats, cold air intake kit, nitro should get u some serious ponies out

Their torque is much lower in the power band, it'll give the illusion that the car is much much faster, when infact it's not.

like dan just said,, if you floored that test drive new edge in low rpms in any gear, its not going to have the 'oomph' feel that a 5.0 has down low..
once youre anywhere above 3500 in a newer 4.6 though, you'll feel a difference
how many miles were on the car/how much are they asking if you dont mind telling us..
just to make sure youre not overpaying

The car has 110k highway miles on it, the guy at the dealership has it out for $8800 said he will go as low as 8000. I've got a 5.0 convertible he is willing to take as a trade. When its all said and done Ill probly be paying my old 5.0 and 5000. The car is in great shape everythint works. Leather, loaded, nice black paint, 17' stock alloys, all new tires, the motor was spotless you can tell its never had aftermarkets on it. I've had my eyes peeled for one of these and havent come across any as clean as this. In my opinion 110k miles owned by an older adult who never beat the car is just as good as buying something with 40k that some meatball 17 yr old drove not knowing how to drive only grinding gears and dumping the clutch.
