I Live in Illinois and no tint is legal. I had 20% on my old car and got pulled over about 5 times throughout the year i had the car. It depends on the cop really. if they really want to give you a ticket but nothing bad they might stick you with a parking ticket or something. only like 30 dollars or so. I have 35% on my car now and i have still been hassled a couple times but no tickets yet. i would go with the 20 percent if i were you because in my experience you r gonna get hassled no matter what the percentage.

Even if not the 20, most definately get something. its worth the occastional hassle.

When i went for my tints i asked for 20%, but when i picked the car up i compared to everyone tht i know that has 20%, and it turns out that he gave me 15%....i think i am gonna change all the windows except for the back to 35%!....look at my pics!

I had what I believe was 10% on my DD mirage and some ******* cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket. This guy spent about 45 minutes in the car looking through about 4 manuals because I guess he didn't know what to charge me with[:@] You could tell this man was a rookie. "Hey look at me I'm a cop, I'm going to give you a ticket because I'm an uber dick who just wants to show off my newlyfound power." I did get it dismissed after I went to court and showed proof that I removed it.
