2002 gt head dillema
Alright here we go. I have a 2002 gt. I noticed something strange months ago when i was putting my underdrive pulleys on. i have an early 01 water pump design. does this mean i have crappy non-pi heads and intake? i thought that 99+ gt's had pi heads and intake by default from the factory... is this not the case? all in all, ive got to know for sure if ive got the good heads and intake or the crappy ones. please help, i cant find a straight-laced answer anywhere! Why would you having a 01 water pump design mean you have a NPI engine?
All 99 and up mustangs (aka all new edge) have the PI engine, no exceptions.

99+ is pi heads and intake they changed the water pump in mid 01 if your water pump pully indent then you have new style on the earlier styles like mine 00 gt the water pump pully bows outward go to the steeda web page and they have an illistraition of this hope that helped

If you have the early 01 waterpump, then you also have the peice of **** T-45 tranny, which means its not an 02... i would call a dealership and give them your VIN #'s and make sure its an 02

the thing that baffles me is that when i decode my VIN it reads as a 2002 gt, but further in the decoding it looks like i have a low-po 4.6 2v check the link here https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...vinResults.asp here is my vin 1FAFP42X62F125159 why am i only rated at 225? just a bad vin decoder?

i am 100 % that the water pump in her is early 01 - when i bought my underdrive pulleys i thought alright, i have an 02 so ill order mid 01-04 kit right? bolted the crank and the alternator pulleys on, then went to slide the water pump pulley on and in no f'n way would the belt have come close to the pulley .... so i looked on steedas page to see how to tell the diff between early and late 01 water pump designs and wouldnt u know it, i had an early design... so i sold the mid 01-04 kit on ebay, purchased a the early kit, and it bolted up just fine. so yeh - im pretty sure..
