Default Exhaust question for North Carolinians

Hey everyone, I have a 2003 GT with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers on it, and to me it's nowhere near loud enough for me lol. My question is what kind of emissions/inspections issues will I have if I were to put an o/r h-pipe on it (I'm not sure what is allowed here in NC). Also if I were to go with a catted h-pipe instead, how much louder would it be over the stock h-pipe? Thanks

I live in north carolina now too. I have not gotten my emissons done back in CT because they were down for a few years. But I have asked around and all they do here is they hook-up to your OBD-II port and scan the computer for trouble codes. If it doesnt throw any codes, or rather have the check engine light on, you pass. So as long as you get your check engine light off, you can run off-road mid-pipe.

You need to be able to pass emissions test so if you have an o/r h-pipe, you probably will not pass. I live in SC but my cousin lives in NC and has to have his car pass emmisions.

U should be o.k. Depending on where u are in NC and who u go too. A lot of shops I used to go to in OBX, NC didn't give a crap and would just check your mileage and let you go. Just call some local shops/inspection shops and see what they say about it. If you are in an area like I was, where the mechanics don't really care about inspections, you can get away w/anything.
