i just did the install myself... they say you need a cam tool but you really dont.... the hardest part is getting either the valve covers off the car, or putting back on the timing chain onto the cam....

well... this is how i did my cams..

i took off both valve covers.... pain in the ***.. you may have to remove other things to get them out

then i removed the cam gear bolts and slid off the cam gear with either zipties or something on it to keep the timing from being screwed up.

then i unbolted the cams and picked them straight out of the motor. i put the new cams in and bolted them down close to where they should be in timing... then i turned the cams till they were lined up with the cam gear and slid the gear back over the cam... this can take alittle work but its possible...

so you dont have to take the front of the engine apart? as long as you keeping the timing chain zip-tied to the sprocket?

So does this method really work??? Just zip-tie the cam sprockets to the chain and then re-install on the new cams?? Please give more details and post any pictures of procedure!!! I'm about to do this for my wife's 2000 GT. Thanks!

Wait a minute, you still need to remove the timing cover, don't you?? If you don't how can you unbolt the cam sprocket bolt?
