I just completed a cam swap on my 96 mustang GT.. i was wondering how many miles i should drive before i should start pounding on it. I did a head swap a few months back to the Patriot Performance stage II heads. I've driven about 50 miles so far. Thanks for the help!!

i would say a good 500 mile break in period. but im not 100% sure on that. but that sounds good

Yea 500 is usually the "break-in" mark. But I can tell you, I was told 500 miles to break in my exhaust, and it took about 1000. I would "drive" the car 500-700 miles to break it in, but then I would beat on it a little for the next 300 miles to really open it up, then you should be good.

And when I say beat on it, Im not talking like you think.... I just mean bring it up to some high RPMs, and shift it hard every now and then, open it up a little.

I will have to go with 500 to be safe but I raced a mustang on spray with 15 miles on mine did not hurt a thing
