Default 4v Lincoln motors?

I searched but did not find much. How about using a 4v Lincoln motor in our Mustangs? What needs to be changed? Has anyone here done the transplant? Not likely I will ever be able to buy one, a Mach 1 or Cobra that is, so if the Lincoln would be a simple swap( simple, never is, is it?) that might be something to consider and with winter coming time to build a motor up for spring! Thanks for any and all info or links, mark
Maybe google has something.

A Lincoln motor is a cast iron block and we have alluminum blocks. If you get all the wiring harnesses then it can be done. If you go for it then go all the way and get a 4v 5.4 Navigator motor. In my opinoin. You have to buy a different oil pan and k member but they say the engine mounts line up. You just have to do some reaserch on the internet and go to a mustang speed shop and ask. Or you can also go to a junk yard and find an old Mark 4v 4.6 motor. Im big on the 5.4 but thats just me. There is no replacement for displacement. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I didn't know we have aluminum blocks! Thanks for that. I also love displacement and Ben you have done some research. I would love a V10. 300 or 310HP but 425lbs/ft. of torque stock! That would shred some tires! bToo bad someone does not offer a kit as I think they could make a go of it as many 2v owners are looking for some more HP and a SC is not for everyone. I could build a motor throughout the winter or I guess save for the SC but I still like the 4v motor deal. I saw a 4.6 4v Lincoln motor on ebay and no one bid and it was $450. A '96 model tear, No good? Too much to change? Thanks, mark

Davids right. It's amazing how much wrong **** is told on this forum. Lincolns have aluminum blocks. A local guy with a 96-98 gt put a lincoln 4.6 into his stang. So yea you can do it, but other then saving weight, theres not really any advantages.

I was looking at the swap for a while also. Here is a link to good new and used motor dealer: www.karkraft.com

I wonder if anyone has swapped the newer 3v unit into our cars yet.

All Mark VIII's had the 4.6 DOHC in them. As you can see by my username, I have a 4.6 DOHC for sale out of a '93 Mark VIII.

If any of you are interested then let me know

thanks

Scott

The question is will the Lincoln motor work with the 2v computer? If it will then why aren't more guys looking for an aluminum 4v motor to replace their 2v? I need to call someone who knows Fords. mark
