Default RE: 02 sensor

My O2 sensors that connect from the exhaust headers have not been connected to each other since i put on LT headers about a month ago. The simply don't reach eachother to plug back in to each other. Any suggestions on how i could connect these?? I was thinking about just adding about a foot of wire and some butt connectors. What effect do you think this has had on power and A/F ratio?? Thank you..

I think your best option is to splice in a bit of wire to get it to fit... I'll keep that in mind when I start looking at LT headers... avoid BBK

I'm surprised it runs with the front O2's disconnected... at the VERY LEAST it is quite rich... and you'll be losing some power. When the ECU has to guess the A/F ratio it'll always be on the rich side, rich is safe, but not cost effective or the best for power.

Yeah i didn't think it would be good to run it with them disconnected. Now when they are plugged in and the check engine is on the A/F is fine and the performace will be good. It's just noticing that my "Cats are no good"..

they do sell o2 sensor extensions just for that application, but if your good with the soldering gun you can splice in some extra wires like drake said

do you think autozone or a shop like that would have these? i just had bassani midlengths put on and i think thats why my front two trip the check engine light (or at least im hoping, i bought replacements if otherwise). im alright with soldering

where is the actual connector for the fronts on an 03? i rember the snaked up into the engine bay area on my 96

The connector should just be on the sensor itself... you should be able to get to them from under the car... or it shouldn't be much different than your 96 was. Get your codes scanned to find out what the CEL says before you buy anything, nothing worse than tossing $60(? not sure, just a VERY rough GUESS, not even an estimate) on a couple new O2 sensors when you don't need them.

If it an o/r pipe your gonna need some type of fix, whether it's hand-held or mil eliminators. Don't depend on it to throw up a CEL, because it won't always. I had my codes read after i put on my o/r pipe on without mils and it still read that it was running to rich from the secondary o2 sensors and no CEL came on. I have mils now and it seemed to help the prob however i'm also fighting against an exaust leak and can't tell what influencing thing more, exaust leak or possibility that my mils aren't working.

Hand-held would be your best bet bottom line, Mils are known to fail/not work at all.

I tried posting this somewhere else, and i think all gave up on me. my 98-gt-auto-74K has been throwing the code P1157 and DTC P1137. i did my research and i know that means...sort of. "P1157-lack of downstream heated oxygen sensor switch - sensor indicates lean - bank no. 2" its been doing this since the car was purchased. (please dont suggest IAC as this was replaced with no results) could it be something to do with the fact that there was and still is a aftermarket bbk intake and K&N filter, or american thunder flowmaster 40 series on the car? Do i need new 02s? how do i know which ones need replaced? please help, the thing is not reliable. sometimes wont start, stalls at any speed for no apparent reason, and shakes before going into next gear. thank you for any help in advance.

Getting 02 Sensor codes, occasional Theft light on and Engine light always on. Never any issues with the car other than this except rearended the day before this happened. Could that have done anything?
