Default places for long blocks

I have done some more reading and found that building an engine myself, as possible as it may be for me to do with my skill etc etc, it still would cost only a bit more to buy one ready to go. I was wondering what the top places to buy a long block from would be. I know of VT engines, DSS racing..., Sean Hyland Motorsports, but that's it. Anyone else that would be equally good? Looking for a motor that will eventually see 10-15 psi of boost making 400-500 rwhp.

Thanks

I'm starting to think a PI swap would be a good option at this point

PI swap instead of the long block? Check out Steeracing's pi swap kits too.

yeah I can only afford so much righ tnow. Just need to bring the car back up to snuff, and maybe pickup a few ponies along the way.

Steeracing? thanks man

My theory is to not aim too high anymore... aim just enough to keep the car reliable but then maybe get some gain too...

One question... what methods can I bring the compression back to normal, because I want to still be running regular fuel

ahhh stupid website had an error

what i meant to say is

I've deemed my bottom end solid by compression test... 145-150 psi all around, no blowby, and no oil burning in a way that would be from the rings. It only smokes when hot, during or after idle.... IE leaky valve seals

I've heard about people running extra thick head gaskets to decrease the compression? I don't really know though. Obviously you could do dished pistons, but that would be a lot of work...

What octane is it reccomended that you run after doing the swap?
