It's just that your the first person I've heard say this. There are a bunch of people on this board that have up to 380 hp on their stock block. I just talked to a guy who was gonna sell me his 1.7, but for reasons like you stated, I didn't want to blow my tranny or engine. He said he was running 400, then got the urge to push it up to 420, & blew his engine. But he was running fine on 400.

Thing is, you come to this board, acting like your gods gift to ****ing cars & expect us to listen to your hard on statements about YOUR experience. Sorry dude, it's just not holding any water.

I said low 300's, not 300. It will not sustain hard driving for long above that. The romeo block is very limited and I hate to see you guys find out the hard way. Im just trying to help. Dont blow your money and please know when to quit. The tuners will keep pushing and they only pray it doesnt drop on them in the middle of a tune. The best way to deal with a tuner is to deal through your engine builder. Horse power is an addictive drug, and were not dealing with big blocks here. I will share any info you guys want, I love mustangs and I appreciate all mustangs, all chevy lovers, move on to another thread, and pray I dont find you on the streets.

i have close to 500rwhp... stock romeo internals.

I ONCE AGAIN I WILL HELP THE GENTLEMAN WHO ASKED, THAT RUNNING A SUPER CHARGER WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF COOLING IS DANGEROUS TO THE POCKET BOOK. IT DOESNT MATTER IF VORTEC WELL SELL YOU ONE WITH OR WITH OUT IT. I HAVE WATCHED TO MANY COME AND GO WHO DIDNT USE THE COOLER AND ENGINE HAS FAILED. THE AIR INTAKE TEMPS WILL CLIMB OVER 140 DEGREES AND DETONATION WILL FOLLOW REGARDLESS OF THE TUNE, THE TUNER WILL HAVE TO DEVALUE THE TUNE/TIME TO MAKE IT RUN, LOOSING VALUABLE HORSE POWER YOU COULD HAVE GAINED WITH BETTER COOLING. I DROPPED MY AIR INTAKE TO 85 DEGREE'S WITH A SHAKER HOOD ASSIST, ANDERSON 4" COLD PIPE, METH INJECTION AND THE AFTER COOLER. IF I COULD SIT A ICE PACK ON IT WHILE I RUN I WOULD. IVE BEEN WRENCHING SINCE 79 ON PERFORMANCE CARS AND ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW IS THE COLDER THE AIR IN THE MORE PONIES.
i appreicate the nice car you have, but to say running boost w/o cooling is dangerous isnt a very good general statement. yes, timing will be adjusted to control det at higher boost - iat temps. i cant afford to put a i/c on my car right now, and i do just fine in the desert heat. just run a sane boost level and a safe tune, you will still make good power and still have your engine. Of course, an i/c would always be better, but i am sure there have been plenty of cooled cars that have blown due to the tune.

This guy is a complete moron.

I am making 415~ WHP on a completely stock shortblock, revving to 6200 RPM, with no intercooler. Have been doing so for months now with zero problems. Note that the car had SEVENTY THOUSAND MILES on it when I installed the charger, motor has never been out.

Also, its a joke to say you have 40K invested in your car. There isn't any way to spend 40K on performance parts for a 99-04 car. A completely built engine, with the best of the best, complete suspesion, brakes, and the most expensive vortech setup out there (that makes since for your car anyway) doesn't come close to 40 grand, not by a LONG shot.

600 WHP eh? You do know MPH has several NON INTERCOOLED vortech setups, with the SQ, and the stock heads/intake making 550~ or so to the wheels right? They also have a non intercooled paxon novi 2000 setup with stock heads/intake making 602 WHP. So much for your fully built engine.

On the topic of the post, its really a toss up between all 3. If I could start over I would have either spent the extra 2-500 on a Novi 2000 or the T trim from vortech, simply because someday I plan on having enough motor to outflow the SQ.

If MPH had offered a ATI procharger kit, with the intercooler and all that, for the same price I probably would have gotten a procharger just for the intercooler. However, I am extremely happy with my vortech setup, and with intercoolers (with piping) coming down to around 600-700 if you put it in yourself, its not that bad anymore.

BTW, you guys may not know this, but you can run a paxton air to air on the vortech setup. You don't have to buy the aftercooler and run it (I don't like it, too much wieght/expense/pita)
