Default Should I ? PI conversion

Recently purchased '98 GT with 90k miles. Have considered converting to PI system. Is the cost and work involved worth it or should I just upgrade to a '98 cobra or newer model Stang?

Personally, I would just look for a Cobra.

If you can find one for a good price, then I would look into getting a cobra. The PI swap will be a lot cheaper than buying a new car, but if you're looking for performance to match a cobra, the PI swap wont get you there.

Before you go out and buy another car, look into swapping a cobra motor into your car. There are a lot of posts about swapping a 4 valve motor in place of your 2 valve here, look back at some of the older threads and you'll find lots of info on it.

there are several kits for around $1300-1400 that include EVERYTHING to do a pi swap... heads, valve covers, intake manifold, and ALL the mounting hardware. They even come with spark plugs. The kit I plan to buy is from "Steen Racing."

Just run a compression test on your engine and see if it's good, if it's good your bottom end is fine. I did a compression test on mine and it came up 145-150 psi all around. That's right at specification. I blow smoke like no other when at operating temp and during and after idling. Valve guide seals... so the heads are being replaced.

Best of luck

The PI swap for @ 1300 dollars will make your car as fast as 99-04 GT's and put you almost equal to 96-98 Cobra's...add some cams and you will take NA Cobras easily.

+1.

Unless you definatly plan on FI down the road, the PI swap should be every 96-98 owners first mod (after gears)/.

hey, I'm about to have a set of PI stuff (heads, cam, intake) up for sale. These are take-off parts with under 19k on them... I'd be willing to let it go for about a grand. PM me if you'd be interested.
