Default Pi Swap/ what cam?

According to Comp Cams I can only use a .500 lift. Another person told me .531 w/ a custom grind. Anyone who has done the swap and aftermarket cams, what did you use. I need to get the cams in a week and I am worried about PTV clearance issues. Thanks

Give VT a call and tell them what you have and what you want for a idle etc, and they can point ya in the right direction.

I used a cam with .500 lift. I had to notch the pistons because I had valve to piston clearance issues. That is a MUST to check with the pi swap w/ aftermarket cams! You don't want to get that thing together and have a valve kiss a piston.

Yeah I know That is why I am so concerened. DO you know what your duration was? I am looking at 230/236 and a RPM range of 1800-5800.

I seriously am have a big brain fart here. I think the duration was 230 on both at .050 lift. Now looking back I was I would have done a lot more cam. I was afraid to spin it past 6k but truth be told you can set a rev limiter so you don't rev past 6k until you upgrade parts. Now I'm just stufck with a "weak" IMO cam

When I was checking into this for my 98 GT I called crane and they told me to use crane part # 379611.

Go with VT Engines stage 1 or 2 cams...please degree the cams in properly to avoid PTV and get the most HP out of them.
