snorkel removal/K&N air filter

RE: snorkel removal/K&N air filter
Are we talking about the little silencer piece on the stock airbox that leads down into the fenderwell? If so, you definately shouldn't remove it, as you'll just pull in more hot air from under the hood. The piece is there to pull cool air from the fenderwell and would only hurt performance if you remove it.

I'm pretty sure its like 2 HP. My times at the track didnt increase AT ALL... so no noticeable gain. I used to have an excel spreadsheet of all my track times, seperated by mods etc.... ashame my hard drive imploded upon itself.

oh im not looking to be faster at the track just so it kinda breaths a lil better. my main thing is will there be a problem if i take it off n just leave the air box or just dont touch it and dont waist my time popping the hood

all i got from it was more noise from the intake, its pretty cool. but i would say getting a k&N air filter and removing the silencer you would at most get 2hp like czwalga00gt said.

RE: snorkel removal/K&N air filter
it wont hurt anything...
but 2000GT4.6... you better not start saying you'll make more power by doing it to a car with more mods because redass will start one of his retarded rampages like he did to me one time
i didnt have any dyno proff, so he started being a ****** whoring up posts in the 4.6 room..
and eventually the thread got locked cause i couldnt prove it would make more power on a car with more mods done...
but yea, i would expect on a STOCk 99-04 a removed silencer and KN filter would see maybe 2-4 at the wheels..
not bad for 30 dollars though ;-) especially compared to the 5-7 for 500 dollars spent on some catbacks
