ORIGINAL: code3GT

You will NEVER get 400rwhp from a N/A 4.6 2V, no matter how much $$$$ you spend.
Not with gasoline, put some nitro in there and you could make like 600...hahaha...wouldn't that be a funny set of mods...

go on ebay get cobra or lincoln mkvIII flat top pistons about $75.00. buy ford racing svo heads $8500.00 used i have a new set for $1400.00 these flow 200cfm @ .550 lift they blow away ported pi heads and you can use your old intake, but you need the flat pistons to maintain 10:1 comp. then get comp cams 268ah $300.00 used $550.00 new cams with .550 lift you can use the svo springs in the heads. get a 75mm throttle body i got a bbk for 60.00 on ebay and a hi flo plenum $100.00. stock crank, rods and pistons will work ok with a good tune. if you forge anything forge the pistons, rods and crank can handle 500hp with good tune. you can get very close to 400hp with this combo. if you have an auto trans you may want to use a 3.73 gear ratio $100.00 for low end pick up because of the cams.

if you want to keep it na you don't need the stroker kits... if you have the knowledge and ability to build the engine, all you have to do is keep the stock internals, but take the engine apart and clean it all out, hone out the cylinders, clean the pistons, get the crank polished for like 300, and buy a set of new bearings (i actually have a new set still in the box), buy a full gasket set and piston rings(around $250 for the two), get a set of cams and valve springs (american muscle.com!), take the heads to get a full valve job and have them install the cams and valve spring which will prolly be like $600, i got a deal with mine! and then do basic bolt on stuff (CAI, TB and plenum, UDP's, exhaust). put the engine back together and you'll have to get a tune which depending on prices around you should be no more that 600. and you could probably be putting around 300 to the wheels. it would be a nice street car... and get gears too.... i'd say it'd run you around 4k-4.5k

I think the most disturbing thing to learn here is that the 400RWHP N/A 4.6L 2V belief is STILL ALIVE to this day, people still haven't learned. Can we put a rest to this pipe dream?

nitrous is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get to 400hp
