ABS & Traction Control (Options)?
I have a 2004 GT convertible. The servicing dealer told me that I do not have ABS and traction control on my car. Everything I have read car says those two features are standard on the GT. Are these standard euipment on the GT or not? Thanks.

RE: ABS & Traction Control (Options)?
For traction control: do you have a traction control button by the shifter?
For ABS: Go really fast, slam on the brakes, and see what happens.
Matt
Other than that, check a site like edmunds.com to find out what the standard features were.

First of all......Going really fast and slamming on the brakes doesn't necessarily set off your ABS unless your on loosed ground. I was on the highway just today and wanted to try out my new cross drilled/slotted rotors! I was doing exactly 80 and did a severe brake check! I slowed down to 20mph instantly. I was stunned on how fast the car slowed without sliding out and even more stunned that the ABS kicked in only once with very little pedal feel., and wasn't till I reached closer to 25mph when it actually kicked in, only because the tires did skid for a split of a hair of a minute of a second!..lol The car fu.kin stopped on demand! So in order to see if you have ABS, simply pop the hood and look over the radiator down to the left! You ABS computer should be right there. OR you can look at your axles and see if you have what appears to be gears on them just behind the rotors. They also have a sensor that protrudes the dust shield you can look for which can all be seen with your tires on the car! No mustangs do not come standard with ABS since they are not made for bad wheather and so that ford can keep costs down to a minimal to make the mustang more affordable than say the Camoros and the Trans Am's when they were made! I personally think they GM cars were better built and you got more HP and quality for your money than the stangs, but I got a really good deal on mine, so I went with it!

I dont know what new cars these days don't come with ABS, now trac control, like the guys are saying you should have a botton for it to turn it off/on, if you are auto, then im not sure. Now ABS you gota have that.

I don't think I've ever seen a GT without ABS, its part of the package. As far as Trac. Control, you probably do have it but I think in '03 Ford removed the button so you can't turn it off.

Hell, every ABS car I have ever driven (and tried anyway) still will make the tires screech some.
The way to really tell is to hit the brakes hard on a slick surface. If the pedal jumps up and down and makes some strange noises you have ABS.
It should be listed on your car insurance as well, as they can look it up thru your VIN number. ABS gives you a slight insurance discount.

I as well have a 2004 GT without Traction Control and without ABS. I think it is a package deal. I have been on the highway where cars are stopping on a dime due to wrecks and wet roads and locked a couple of tires up. Unless of course the owner before me was an idiot and ordered the car without both. Traction Control can be lived without, the ABS is kind of hard to get used to on wet roads.
