I'm going with the simple green. But then do I hose it off? Is that safe? Or just wipe with a moist towel as mentioned above?

CD2 engine detailer, its a grease and grime remover and also has a shiny coating spray, best stuff ive used and its cheap.

I just detailed my engine bay. I used Simple Green with a towel and afterwords used some left over Armor-All wipes I had laying around. It looks great except that I can't get the valve covers too clean. They seem to just dry up the simple green. That, and the block and heads that are metal colored, can't get clean either. They seem to have stains all over them.

Anything you guys recommend for black valve covers and metal heads and block?

Simple green works great but not at full strength, it should be diluted some before being applied to your motor.
