Is it bad if I don't use that cover on the bottom of the shifter?? I figured everything out, I didn't loosen up the bolts holding the shifter in, it wouldn't allow it to move. Now i've just got to make it comfortable to me.

I got that cover thingy from the stock shifter onto the new mgw. Should I not adjust those stops at all?? It seems like I had to to make the damn shifter even move.

Dude...start over and follow the directions down to the letter. The MGW instructions are absolutely fantastic, as long as you don't skip ANY of the steps. Based on your previous posts, you've been skipping steps. Slow things down, don't be in such a hurry to get it in.

And another thing. Tremec recommends that you don't use the stops. MGW recommends that you don't use the stops. DON'T USE THE STOPS! The 3650 has internal stops. Using the ones on the shifter will only cause you problems. Unless you're power shifting and slamming gears you WILL NOT break the internal stops and damage the transmission.

Not to sound too hypocritical, but your shifter and transmission manufacturers are both telling you to install it a certain way, is it wise to follow the suggestions of some guy you don't know? No offense to the above posters who are saying otherwise, but you won't gain any performance by installing the stops and you have nothing to lose by removing them as MGW states to do in their installation instructions.

Do you need to drain tranny oil before changing stock stick to MGW?
