OK. Where is this weight coming from? I can see a heavy duty suspension which would add weight but be a nice addition and hopefully delete the need for aftermarket parts.
Maybe some extra sound deadening material. For the price this car had better feel different than a GT not just in power. I have heard that dealers are selling them at 20K over the sticker price, that's the buyers problem but if they have the bucks I guess it's not an issue.
400lbs. is significant so I still ask where as I do not read the mags. Never knew there was a Mach 1 at 318HP or a Cobra at 390. Those are impressive figures surpassing the highest HP figures the Mustang had in my day. The Buick GS was the 3rd quickest car tested by Road and track in those days behind the Cobra at #1 and the tri-power Vette at 435HP. The '70 Stage 1 was underrated at 360HP and it ran a 13.31 or 13.41 on stock tires making it the king of the muscle cars much to the chagrin of Hemi and 454 LS6 owners. It weighed neraly 4000 lbs.
Anyways the guys who can afford the Shelby are probably not complaining about the weight but the guys who cannot afford one. 450HP will make that a high 12 car anyways. Eniough grioping will create a stripped model perhaps! mark
