Default 03-04 cobra boost question..

Since the 03-04 cobra motors go through boost since the car is born, how does that affect the motor? in the long run do the cobras stay together pretty well or what? i mean how long u think the 4.6 will last??

also do those cobras have side skirts? or are they the same as the 03-04 gts?

well, if you think about it...the OHC motors used in japanese cars have been around since the 70's and most of the cars are still running. With that being said the deciding factor is the owner, sinc everyone dont maintain their vehicles the same.

better oiling, cooling, stronger crank/rods, 8 bolt main. they are factory made to live under boost like a 2v is factory made for n/a.

10psi in a stock 2v is about it, beyond that and you roll the dice everytime you let it linger up the tach.

ok so 9psi, i mean damn that + mods puts you at least 400rwhp right? and how much to the motor.

isnt that fast enough?? lol i feel it is..

anyhow.. how long would the motor last at 9psi? bc i hit 50k miles is it still safe on a perfectly maintained motor?

theres no way to know that dude, these are all general rules of thumb that you hear echoed across the forums. individual variation in your driving habits, maintenance habits, and luck of the draw with the motor mean that you can't get the info to the level you detail you want. but yes, your motor could still take upwards of 10 psi, or maybe even a little more, if you get it professionally tuned by someone who knows. how fast you want to go is your own business though.

right. but i trying to choose a safe route. Either s/c the GT at 50k mi, and no more then 10psi. its not a track car but a weekndriver at the most. or if i should put that money towards another ride. I dont want to just buy a s/c with out even knowing the downsides.. thanks for your help though man!
