Whats better a DOHC 4.6 or SOHC for drag?
Okay yeah I know on most cars DOHC are usually always better because of the cylinder head flow, etc. But for the cost to power aspect which it better? Talking about 550+rwhp with forced induction? I'm looking into building a 60's stang with a newer motor but cant deside which one. I know the SOHC's are easy to find and I would assume cheaper. I see more and more things for the SOHC over the DOHC motor, is the DOHC that much better? What should I look into more. Which one has more so torque?
Thanks Ken

I would just buy an 03-04 cobra motor/tranny for the car... Or you could build your own motor... But i recomend DOHC... 4V just respond better to everything, look better, worth more, all around better motor's.

DOHC FTW, but if your dragging, I would look for a stroker kit, much more power can be had with those engines.

From what I've seen, alot of badass fast Stangs that run 10's and 11's are running either a stroker or pushrod.

I know pushrods are way different than the 4.6, I was just saying if he wanted to get some real nice numbers to buy a different type of motor. Yeah, the DOHC would be nice, but there are other motors out there that can handle more boost, it was just a suggestion by me, not something you gotta argue about. If your gonna get a DOHC, get a 5.4 DOHC and boost that baby with twin-turbo.
