Pulls timing, adds fuel.

It'll get you from point A to point B reliably just like before, it'll get crap for gas mileage and might idle a little funny.

Skip MIL's, they blow. Get a tuner.

There's a program in the computer that senses the check engine light. If it thinks that the problem is bad enough, it'll add fuel by something like 40% or something and go into a richened limp mode to help you get where you need to go. This all might not be 100% correct, but basically you get the idea.

EDIT: add fuel not cut fuel I meant.
