Default Replace 4.6 with a bigger motor?

Is it possible to take out the 4.6 and replace it with a bigger crate motor? I'm not sure what all motors there are that i could put into the car but i was wanting to put a bigger motor (350+ci) and new transmission also. I was just trying to get some help from you guys as of what some options could be. I can't spend over 4k for a motor cuz i have to keep some money for the tranny and whatever else will need replaced. I have a 01 GT right now i was going to sell it and get an older GT like a 96 or maybe a 94 5.0 or something and replace the motor with a bigger one, tranny, ect. please help me out i'm trying to get the fastest motor/car for cheapest $.

Thanks!

Sounds like you should get a 94-95 and throw in a built 351. You could also go smaller and get a 331. You can also stroke the 351 if you want extra cubes.

Thanks man, do you have any idea or suggestions as of where i should look at them? i have been searching google for them and different websites. Found a couple for 4500 or so.....

And can you just drop this motor in or will there be some issues with the install and everything lining up do you/anybody know?....

Thanks.

You can put any sized engine you want in there. You will need new mounts, tranny possible. I would try local speed shops. I work for Roush and was looking for one a while back used. Found it for $5k 342RE, 440HP stock all motor. Also a company, RCG up in michigan. Builds great ones for about $7

thanks alot guys, would i be better off buying a motor used or new? money wise...is it worth it to buy it new out of the box?

What if i found a Chevy 454 or something would that work in a mustang? (probably alot of work to do i'm assuming.....)

a 460 would probably cost 7 grand wouldn't it? I can't affoard that much on just the motor itself unfortunately....

five point four, four valve.

That would be the -simplest- swap to more displacement... the 5.4 sure makes good enough power (if you can find a set of '00 Cobra R/Ford GT heads, add a little twin turbo and you'll see 1000 RWHP [&:]), even the modified C heads that are on there are pretty darn great... While you'll be able to make more N/A with a larger motor, the 5.4 should be able give you everything you want and the swap will be amazingly simple.

if you have only 4K to spend on the swap good luck.
