GT stalled today coming home from work
I was doing about 30, while braking for an upcoming light, and then I noticed that the brake pedal was tight, and steering was equally tight. I immediately looked at the tach to discover it's not even running. I was even still in gear when it quit, 5th gear and about 30 mph isn't below idle speed. Any ideas of what it might be? Some sort of module, or vapor lock? It was about 95 degrees here today on the way home if that makes a difference. Also, the idle air control valve seems ok. Any help is appreciated, or ideas - thanks

Did it start right back up? If it did, and you haven't noticed any problems since, I'd just write it off as fluke and be done with it. If it happens again though, take it in. ... If it was in gear, wouldn't the tack still be up even if the engine wasn't activly turning th wheels? Because the wheels are still going to turn the transmission, and the trans is going to turn the crank..... I don't know, are they digital now? Good luck to you either way though.

Yeah, as soon as I pulled over, I gave a quick assesment on things, turned the key and it fired right up. Everything's all electrical now, so the tach won't read. Come to think of it, I think the clutch was disengaged when it quit.
I just got off the phone(after on hold for ever) with a tech at the dealer, and he was nice, but clueless. No wonder they can't duplicate things. He said thet I had to disengage the clutch and downshift while stopping. Yeah, that's true, but I always disengage the clutch at about 1500 rpms or so. He was implying that if it's in gear at 1000 rpms, that it'll quit. Not really since it's still above idle. I tried to explain, but to no avail. Hell, the engine has so much torque that in 2nd gear while idleing along in stop and go traffic, I have to keep the brake pressed while doing like 1 mph to keep it from accellerating! I guess he didn't understand what I was saying.
