Default 75mm tb and plenum

Ok, so I just put on a UPR wide mouth plenum and a ford racing 75mm tb. There's one catch though, I can tell its getting a lot of air into the engine, but know it seems like it is either running too rich or either too lean. The idle sounds really rough now and i know for a fact that its not supposed to sound like that. Anyone have any suggestions of what might be wrong or what I can do to fix it?

You may have to adjust your IAC(attaches to the TB). When in neutral where are your RPMs at?

Make sure everything is sealed perfectly, make sure you didnt forget to plug up any hoses/tighten the intake to the TB good enough... etc.

It does sound more like a vacuum issue. Just recheck your connections. You can, with CAUTION, spray some ether (starting fluid) around the intake and see if your RPM's go up any. Don't get crazy with it, just a little will do.

In this case would it be good to get a tune or would that not be the case? Mine does the same thing w/ a CAI and an uprgraded plenum... sort of runs a little rougher, and that's w/o the TB upgrade. I checked w/ the starting fluid when I installed it and she's sealed tight so I don't know.

the tps is fine, its almost all the way adjusted. As for the vacuum lines, they are all on snug...my computer just threw a code yesterday afternoon so I went and got it checked today. It said the 1st and 2nd cylindars are running too lean. I was told to go get it dyno tuned, but I don't want to jump to conclusions and go spend 500 bucks for a good one.

ok is there some other way to tell if your car is running rich besides black smoke? also how do you tell if it is running rich or lean. could you tell me if i need a tune with my mods(look my sig). sorry not trying to jack the thread but i kind of have the same problem and i didn't think i should start a new thread that is almost the same as this one.

Well what year car is it ? What else does it have as far as Mods ?

I'm with Dr Bob as far as checking for vacum leaks. This can be a bit tricky sometimes. Unless you hit it just right a small leak will not show up.

My next issue would be with the TPS. It needs to be adjusted properly. I think for a 94 to 88 it needs to read .98Volts. Make sure your connections are good when you do it. It is easy to loose a couple of tenhnts of a volt is the connections. This could throw things off [X(]

Now technically, too large a TB will tend to hurt idle and low end. I have never seen this actually happen however. It would have to be a tired/worn motor or one with a radical cam....
