Default T56

Well, my transmission is screwing up again. third gear syncro. i serriously doubt ford will replace it again sence the car now has 39k miles. I guess ill have to get this fixed myself and i figure, while im at it, why not get a T56. I found a place that sells rebuilt cobra T56 for around $1100, my question is can you but a kit from DD with the rest of the stuff you need? what else do i have to have? shifter, driveshaft, cobra crossmember? can i pick this suff up off a cobra?

My next quesion is about gearing. i know the first gear is higher in the T56 so should i get 4.10s or do i need to go even lower for my rear end?
btw, i have a 04 GT with basic boltons at this point. any help would be great.

You were probably looking at a Viper T56.

I would like to know what you find out as well.

The 2nd to 3rd shift is the only gripe I have about my 04 GT.

I searched all over trying to find "T-56 tranny problems" on the net and couldn't find any so, I guess they are good trannys and shift well?

Not bad tranys but not all that great either, 3rd gear is still weak and the syncros and blocker rings will still break in them. The Viper spec trans is much stronger but still has a very high 1st gear.

Hence the reason to throw in some 4.30s into that baby and let'er rip

If thats the case i might just try to get a TKO600. It really pisses me off because i am alwasys carefull with 3rd, i never power shift 3rd only second. a viper t56 is too much cash and i would almost have to do a rearend swap at the same time due to the high ratio first gear. i am sill in the research phase. obviously i would rather put my money into something that would make the car faster rather than just having a 6 speed. I guess ford might fix it again but i doubt it.
