Default s/c vs turbo stangs

Why go turbo on your stang if you can just s/c???

Wouldnt it be better to go s/c? off the roll? off the line? no turbo lag??

Why do people spend the extra cash to turbo their stangs? the sound? the rare-ity?

Turbos are much more efficient that superchargers. If i'm making 400rwhp at 10lb's of boost with a SC, i could probably be seeing 450 with a turbo setup on 10lbs. Turbo lag is pretty much non existant anymore.

Turbos > SC. The problem is its more difficult to turbo a v8 car because the exhuast doesnt collect on one side of the motor like 4cyl and inline 6's.

I would do a twin turbo if I had it to do all over again. Ditto what czwalga00gt said!

You'll only really see turbo lag in a large single turbo setup. With two small twins, I doubt you'd see any. And like cz said, they are much more efficient. Only real downside is price.

STS has pretty much taken the lead in v8 turbos. If interested you should def check them out. They dont have any for the pre-05 stangs though.

right right i see what your saying.. thanks for reorganizing my thoughless info. i got you.. anyhow, how is the ford gt motor set up? was that a tough turbo job??

also.. is the power the same downlow in the rpm range seen on a kb vs. a turbo??

the EFFICENCY part i understand also.. but does it last better for the motor as well or what?

You will see more torque downlow on a KB setup... however you dont race in the 2k rpms. The ford GT motor is a supercharger setup. Which i find absolutely retarded since its meant to be a track car, heatsoak would play a part after a while. A turbo setup would have been a better route.

so you can say that, a kb could possibly be a waste of money compared to going with a centri.. because if your saying the 2k range (low end) doesnt make that much of a difference. than why waste the other 2000 going with a kb? for the name..

im looking at turbo setups now, if i learn a little bit more ill ask some questions. so far i feel turboing the gt would be a waste, i might as well find a new ride.

So a twin turbo is more efficient for a v8 because it runs off of both sides of the exhaust, since the exhaust goes two ways, instead of running a single turbo, which would only collect exhaust from one side? Is that whats up? I think I'm understanding.

Good question. A s/c car would definitely be better off the line and from a slow roll. They have better low end power. But top end, the t/c produces more power. This is why t/c cars always "pull" on other cars.

Personally, I would get a s/c. No questions asked. I'd rather get the jump on the other car and let him worry about playing catch up.
