popping sound when shifting

my exhaust has been popping when shifting from 1-2 and 2-3. Like a backfire. Could this be due to my exhaust leak?

hmm, idk, louder exhaust systems will tend to pop or crackle when shifting or down shifting, maybe ur muffler just got broken in or something?

if its when ur slowing down and ur rpm's were high and they are slowly coming down, its fine. most exhaust does this. plus when its colder, they do it more and its louder.

If its random popping, like every 10sec. i have no idea.

no, it's just when shifting at a high rpm. Just a quick pop, small backfire. I know i have an exhaust leak because the gasket is shot in between the manifold and h pipe. wondering if that's why

A back fire happens when the timing is off, i really doubt ur car is backi firing, but have ur exhaust pop when shifting at high rpms is normal

You could be running extremely rich, and when you're hitting high RPM's, you increase your chance of igniting exhaust vapors that are rich in fuel...

Does this popping feel mechanical?? Does your car lurch, or buck when it happens??
