I test drove a '99 LS1 Corvette and it didn't feel fast either. However, they are fast and still faster then our new GT's. Don't ever race an LS1 car on the freeway either. It will leave a GT, easy.

It is true that on 4 th gen SS and Firehawks that the only real performance options were a air, cat back and thats really it. If you look into the 3rd gen Firehawk, it another story, not that it matters because we were talking LS1 cars.

If the LS 1 Camaro ran 13.8, it ran slow. Stock Mustangs run 14.2 quarters all day long. The '01 Bullitt was touted as doing the quarter in 13.56, beating the '01 Cobra (this was by Mustangs and fast Fords in an article in '01). An LS by the numbers, shoud be in the mid to low 13's stock. I know one thing, I'd love to run one, to see where I fall.

John
was that an LT1? LS1s should be high 12/low 13 second car regardless of the tranny

no freaking way are stock LS1 any where near the 12s they are mid to hight 13 with a vary good driver thats it
Well you are right they arent high 12s stock. Typical is low to mid 13s. But plenty run in the 14s occasionally, but thats not the norm.

its an auto to i didnt keep looking, but alot of em are just CAI and exhaust in the 12s
dont bealeve anything that ppl put in there time slip garage with what mods did what, when i race LS1 and smoak them on bottel i dont tell them im spraying like he is gonna put that in there,

as for a CAI and Exhaust and running 12s no way my buddy has a 2000 Z28 auto with a 3800 stall LS6 intake SLP air lid L/T headers, with a exhaust cutout, and a 80mm T/B, computer tuner and D/Rs and he is running 13.09 @ 107 was his best run yet and he has the baddest LS1 around here and there all over here now if you wanna talk fast 12sec cars yesterday there was a 03 cobra with a o/r h-pipe, boost bypass and D/Rs and he ran 12.43 @ 111mph
Evan Smith ran a 12.8 in a bone stock LS1 Camaro, it has been documented in GM High Tech Performance and I think it was even in Stang mag.... As for there being no way a CAI and exhaust car running 12's, I can tell you from first hand experiance that your wrong. My 01 SS went 12.5 @ 110 mph with a lid, cat back and drag radials. Take away the dr's and I am sure it would have still been a 12 second car. As for your buddy, I don't know what to say other than he should get a real tune, hand helds are junk for an LS1. He should be a low 12 car. My car, now that I swapped in an auto, 4000 stall, cam, and longtubes and the above mods has gone 11.8 at 113.7 MPH. Do you guys run at a high elevation?

2,238ft is the elevation here and i can say B.S. on any Bone stock LS1 f-body running 12s, im not some stang owner that all i have is a slow stang, i know what it takes to get in to the 12s and the 11s, i have a mid to low 11s car its a 1973 340 plymouth duster (3100lbs car) with a under hood 177 B&M Blower with a 4500 stall 4:65 gears, i have seen and rode in fast LS1s that ran 12s but they had N2O, stall, gears, d/rs, and diff rear end unsted of the crappy 10bolt, or they where vetts but thats it, dont go thinking that you can go and buy a stock 98 Z28 and have a 12sec supercar b/c its just not gonna happen, my g/f had a 02 SS 6spd with the GM 335hp exhaust package and it bested 13.81 @ 103mph, i also have on tape LS1 not going faster then a 14.5s. are LS1s fast? YES! are they super cars NO!!
