Default CONNECTING ROD ISSUES?! HELP

i havent taken my motor appart yet but i think that i blew a rod when i sucked in some water a while back...i havent ran the motor for long after the rod went...it still runs fine but it has a louddd noise that comes from it when it runs...so i thought it was a rod..anyways if i bent a rod i dont know if the cylinder walls are going to be OK..my question really is does anyone have any experience with this...or any advise..cause i was going to get a new motor ...then a short block ..but dont know if i should just change the rods..but i did suck in water..so how bad is my situation..if i have to buy a new motor i will not a problem i was just wondering ..thank guys
