the person selling will tell you. its not like you go out and buy a motor not knowing how many miles it has. its clearly advertised when selling a motor.

yeah but assuming you get more money for less miles... who's to say I couldnt sell an engine with 150,000 miles on it for $2500 and just say it has 50,000 miles on it? I mean it actually sounds like a pretty good way to rip someone off.

yeah, anything is possible man, depends who you buy it from. you could always look at the odometer of the car they pulled it from if trust was an issue.

Could you take it apart if it did have high miles and use the heads, cpu, and tranny for your iron block. (intead of amluminum) Is that possible? Also can the tranny of a cobra be more powerful than my early 01 t5?

depends what year cobra you get. 94-95 had a t5. the 96-98 cobra had a t45, which is a lil stronger than the t5. not sure what the 99 and 01 had, but the 03-04 have a tremec t56. and you could take it apart, but it woudlnt be beneficial, as it has a lighter aluminum block, and a forged crank (assuming its not a 03/04 block, which is steel and has fully forged internals)

edit* t5s wont bolt up to a modular

That was fast responding nomo. My car is an early 01 GT, so it has I beileve, a t5. My buddy he had a later 01GT that had a 3650 or something like that. His clutch and shifter felt completely different. I wonder how much torqe mine can handle. Isn't an iron block better for boost than aluminum? But could I nomo get an 98-01 or ? cobra motor with alot of mile and convert it to my block? Sorry for all the questions.thanks

im pretty sure you have a t45 man. but seriously, alum block is the ticket. yeah, iron is stronger, but the alum is plenty strong. john mehovits uses the stock alum block on his 2000hp+ 6 sec drag car. my friend used it on his 634rwhp cobra, and i used it on my 460rwhp cobra. the iron will just add unwanted weight.

Word to that.... iron blocks are to heavy. They say if you take everything off an LS1 and weigh just the block, it should weigh in at or a little under 100 lbs. Thats some crazy @$$ shizzle my nizzle!
