ALL vehicles are dynoed at the factory. I worked for GM for ten years. They are dynoed to check "acceptable" ranges and to calibrate ECU's, PCM's and the like. They don't do it to advertise HP. It's basically as a quality control check and computer flashing operation. Usually takes about 5 minutes. Fun ride thru the dyno!

Obviously one can also just happen to get a motor that is on the high side of the spec
