How many quarts of motor oil do 2v 4.6's use? I've heard 5, 6 and 7. so i'm confused.

My 04 takes about 6.5 qts.

yeah that's what most people use, but i called the local autozone and asked them, they said 5 qrts.

I just used the 04 as an example since someone mentioned it, 6 qts. I assume all of the 2v 4.6L GT engines are the same but again, I'm new so I'm just assuming. I double checked and the 02 says the same.

I've heard 5.5 and that's what my friend said he put in his s/c gt a couple minutes ago when I called him about it.

i changed my oil about a week ago, and i put 5 qrts. you think it will run well? or is it better off with a little more oil?

Well I don't know how this engine works (just got my car), but it's unlikely you dumped every drop of oil when you changed it so you probably have enough. Just take a look at the dipstick and see how the level looks, if it says you're fine then you're good.

i just checked the dipstick and it's up to the 'max' line, so i guess i'll leave it like that, thanks for the help guys
