That's right on target in this area which is Delaware/Pa. The cam install is a big job especially with the motor in the car.

I know a friend was quoted at 1200 by MC Racing in KC for a cam/head/header install on an LS1. Most of the tuners are going to pull the engine for cams, and sometimes headers. That is why the prices are so high.

it would be retarted to pull the engine for a cam install, seeings its sohc. now the headers i can see, but all they do is drop the k-member and lift it up a little. i would think the header install would cost more than the cams

Doing cams with the engine in the car is possible, but from what I hear, the job of doing the cams with the engine out of the car is MUCH easier. Personally, If I'm gonna install cams, I'd much rather pull the engine, degree the cams, get the timing right, and not throw a valve into a piston when I go to start the car.
