My buddy he works for porche, and he says they are designing a car that will always be in it's powerband. It's really hard to explain. Means the car will never slow down until the tranny is done. Imagine 200 mph @ 2,200 rpm's Wish MD or Nomo could explain.

A honda s 2000 with a really really good driver can hit 14.2....but the average driver will more than likely only run 14.5-15.0 they are very hard to drive.......All the 2000 power comes in the high rpm band.....I would think one would be hard for a GT to get the jump on from a roll....bit from a stop....THE GT will whip one pretty good.

I don't know much about it but a friend of mine told me that all is in the gearbox that has CVT (continuously variable transmission) that makes you be always in the powerband. I’m not sure if you are talking about of this…

I don’t know….. are some Honda’s like the insight, hybrids and prototypes that has CVT. (There is a civic CVT), Audi uses in the A4 and other cars and I think Subaru’s used it some time ago, the new mini cooper has it ant I believe some Toyotas too but I’m not sure… CVT isn’t new but now is more reliable…..

A little off topic, but the car people are always reffering to that stays in the power band is a new prototype(mercedes i beleive) roadster that will likely see production. From what ive heard its roughly 400 hp but thats here nor there, anywys what they are doing is it runs on a 7-speed automatic transmission so it is in the power band a lot more. They claim it runs a full 1.5 sec quicker than the optional manual transmissoin on that car. My stats arnt right on the money but thats very close from what i can remeber.
