It is more fun doing it yourself, getting fuel running down into your armpits and such, ha ha. Just release the pressure in the system, use a rag up there and have at it. I wouldn't pay anyone to do it, its so simple, good luck.

Why in the **** would you let a shop do it for $50? Very easy to change.

My 88 had those special connectors but I used two small screw drivers. Maybe now they are different.

I pulled the fuel pump relay and ran the car until the the gas in the line ran out so that there would be no pressure.

Whats the best way to remove the Fuel Filter? I already took off all the tighteners all I have to do is remove the hoses from the filter but its really stuck in there and the more I try and tug at it the more the hoses move and I really dont want to break the hoses. (The hoses are made out of steel not rubber) I tried and twisting it off but no dice.
Why??

I just changed the fuel filter on my wifes 06 Escape...Total cost $12 and a Coke and rum from my wife while I did it vs $60 from the dealer. Oh and it only took 10 minutes not two hours or half a day.

yep, that's the only one.

I would stay away from the real generic ones. Puraltor, Fram, Motorcraft, Delco etc on the name brands is fine. Had too many problems with the generics in the past. (Metal shavings, off center, etc)
