Default Stock Block?

how much HP can the stock block on a 4.6 2v handle with upgraded internals. because im thinking of building my short block to handle high HP/TQ numbers for a blower with lots of psi. do you guys think its worth it with the stock 281. how much would it cost? after all a built and blown 281 can kick some serious a**

idk but a stock block is cast iron. With fully forged internals it can do a lot.

Your probably better off buying a built block than beefing up your stock block....but I'd guess @400-450 horses to be safe

I just emailed VT engines and asked them the same questions. Their answer was, "if done right, the stock block can handle up to 1000 hp."

Should be enough for you aye?

because not everyone has the ability, or time to do it themselves I guess. And not everyone needs a block that can handle 1000hp

Engines that can stand that kind of punishment are probably 2-3 times more expensive.

Gotcha...the 4.6 is a pita to take apart and rebuild imo unless you have lots of free time, so I'll be buying a built motor soon.

That's what I wanted to do. I was gonna grab a reproduction block from them for about 600-700 and go from there.

You still have to have it bored, honed and deburred though.
